Class Assignment

Today we presented our group projects. Our poster board came out amazing!

After everyone presented Mr. Wells disscussed with us some of the new arguments that we came up with.
Before we started these group projects i didnt truly understand how much thought the author of any book puts into their writting. These assignments have gave me a better and deeper understanding of how a writter chooses specific words, sounds, and sentence structures to express a certain tone throughout their novel.

The arguments that Mr.Wells pointed out today are relivant to not obly jane eyre but also everyday life, so we the readers can relate to the novel.

Group Disscusion 5-4

Today Iris and Gabriel were not here.
Last night me and Cassi got a poster board... and since they didnt have black we painted it black!
Iris is going to type up all of our information and give it to Sadaf.
I would give you some examples of what evidence we found this week but it is not here.. its with Iris.
Our group is working very well together. Iris seems alot more relaxed since we lost a group member. ( just kiding) SInce we are not using a powerpoint our presentation should go smooth.
Looking forward to seeing everyones presentions this week.

group disscussion 5-2

Today in our group we started our research on sounds of words.
Cacophony: harsh sounding sounds of owrds.
Onomatopiea: use of owrds to imitate natural sounds; accomidation of sounds to sense
Euphony: harmony or beauty of sound which provides a pleaseing effect to the ear, usually sought-forvin peotry for effect.
Me and Cassi began finding examples of these sounds of words.
Our group also stated talking about what type of presentation we will be doing this week.

What group had this topic last week?

Group Discussion 4-25

Today in our group we finally truly undertstood that the argument that the writer is trying to portray is a very simlple argument. An example is That men,are withought reason superior to women.
We also started gathering our evidence of how syntax helps the writer stress her arguments.
Cassi,Iris Gabriel and I worked throught some pieces of evidence we found in order to make sure that our examples of sytax stressed a specific argument.
Throughout Jane Eyre there is syntax everywhere. The different sentence structures all stress different things. It is really interesting to look at these forms of sytnax and try to think of why that specific sentence was wrote in that specific way.

Group Discussion 4-20

Today in our group we finished gathering our examples of alliteration and finding their meanings.
Our Technician started wrapping up our power point presentation. We disscused how we want to present our information so that it would be entertaining and still help our classmates retain the meanings of alliteration, assonance and consonance.
Before we got assigned this particular assignment i did not quiet understand the meanings of these items (alliteration, assonance, consonance) but now that i worked within my group and we collaborated what we thought it meant and how these examples stressed the arguments of the author i began to understand their purpose.
The idea of having us work in groups was great, it is helping gain understandings of things i could not figure out on my own.
Im excited to see everyone elses presentations.

group discussion for 4-19

Today in our group we took the examples of alliteration, assonance, and consonance and figured out there specific meaning then we figured out the reason why it was important fot the authors argument.
A specific example of one of the assonance examples we found was," when i was as old as you, I was a feeling fellow enough, partial to the unfledged ,unfrosted and unlucky".
The eplanation of this example was, that this qutoe from Mr. Rochester to Jane is showing how they are unegual, and how Mr.Rochester is "above" Jane, because he has a family, money and he is a male.
The reason why this example shows emphasis is it shows how during the Victorian age how people were superficial and judged people by their sex, what was on the outside.

We bagan to do this with the rest of our examples also.

group discussion for 4-18

In our group today we finally realised what we were supposed to be figuring out about the sounds of words. We had some some difficulties finding the examples of alliteration, Assonance, and Consonance. We have find the majority of the examples we want. The problem was we werent sure how to relate them to the reason that that specific example of allitereation was important for that specific argumnet in the novel. But now we understand that the reason may be as simple as stressing a certain emotion or motif.
